One Frame At A Time: Washington
It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
I know I said I wasn’t going to post another newsletter this week but I’m feeling well enough to embed some moving pictures and, well, I have all these GIFs.
I’m not sure how often I’ll do full-blown GIFs posts like this but I do plan on continuing to heavily incorporate them into my work and posting more of them on the TBP Twitter feed, which will be the home of the GIFs that don’t make the cut here. I’ve abandoned gfycat for now because it doesn’t play nice with Substack or Twitter.
The top five follows. I’ll post 6-10 and some honorable mentions on Twitter to save bandwidth.
5. Aidan Hutchinson, Madden Glitch
Using only one arm, Hutchinson managed to move Washington’s tight end into the path of the quarterback and cause a cartoonish collision. I still don’t fully understand the physics at play here; in fact, I feel further away from the answer every time I see it.
4. The Boys Are Back In Town
Lord, have I ever missed crowd reaction shots.
3. A Lesson In Geometry
When the blocking is perfect, the safety needs to take, well, a better angle than that. Also, hooray for the return of wire cam replays that end by panning out to a raucous crowd.
2. Maize Pops
I’d be very cool with September Maize Out night games becoming an annual (or biannual) occurrence. Picking a crowd shot was difficult but I love the way this one contrasts the student section with the night sky.
1. Where’s The Forkin’ Flag?
Another one for the “Jim Harbaugh hates this call while his team holds an insurmountable lead” collection.

Thanks for bearing with me this week. If you missed anything: the game column on how Michigan played out an Anderson Silva fight, the main podcast on the Washington game (plus Ohio State losing and our weekly picks), and the bonus pod that I really, really believe you’ll enjoy with Patrick Mayhorn talking about the Buckeye defense in disarray and more.
